Summary:

OPM completed a research study for the Advisory Board for Irish Aid to help them understand how development cooperation organisations such as Irish Aid can demonstrate that their contributions have a positive effect on poverty alleviation. The study examines the methods and approaches used both by Irish agencies and, more widely, to measure and assess the impact of aid, identifying the strengths and weaknesses of current methods. It also, looks at the potential contribution of recent initiatives to improving understanding of aid impact, and the continuing challenge of improving information on aid impact. The study comprises seven separate thematic papers, including a case study of how aid impact is measured in Uganda, and an overall synthesis report.
