Senior Health Economist

Oxford Policy Management (OPM) is a development and research based consultancy providing rigorous analysis, policy advice, management and training services to national governments, international aid agencies and other public sector and non-government organisations. OPM aims to contribute in innovative ways to enhance economic and social progress in developing and transition economies, with a focus on the needs of the poorest people.

OPM’s health portfolio work extends from policy support at the highest levels of government and international organisations to practical assistance in the implementation of health care reform and development. The portfolio’s main geographical focus is Sub Saharan Africa, South and South East Asia, CIS/CEE, and the Caribbean.

We are looking to support the growth of our health portfolio through the recruitment of a senior economist.

Candidates should meet most of the following characteristics:

• Strong relevant academic background and professional qualifications
• Experienced with quantitative and/or qualitative research techniques
• Proven consulting skills and achievements in areas of personal technical expertise. These might include, but are not be limited to: health financing, health economics, public health, planning and health care management and the policy response to HIV and AIDS
• Experience in developing countries and / or transitional economies
• Ability to lead and manage multi-cultural teams in challenging environments
• Experience of negotiation and working with senior government officials and staff of international agencies
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Good team working and a collegiate approach
• Language skills, particularly French, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese

The position is full time and based in our offices in Oxford however, the role will require overseas travel. OPM offer a competitive salary, a contribution pension scheme and generous holiday entitlement.
