Water and Sanitation portfolio

Ian Ross is heading up our Water and Sanitation portfolio, building on OPM’s existing expertise in complementary fields such as health, education and climate change.

Over the last 10 years the company has been involved in a growing range of water and sanitation projects, from assessing the political economy of sanitation for the World Bank, to developing a framework for water security and climate resilient development for the Global Water Partnership.

Ian will help develop OPM’s expertise in this field, drawing on cross-cutting skills in political economy analysis and monitoring and evaluation.

Previously, he was in the policy team at WaterAid, where he managed a variety of research and policy work. This included a secondment to East Timor to set up a new team working on government budget tracking and sanitation private sector development. Ian has also developed research on child health and sanitation in Zambia and Madagascar, and built a partnership with WHO and UNICEF on improving monitoring in several countries in southern Africa.

Ian holds an MSc in Development Economics from SOAS, and a BA in Classics from the University of Oxford.
