Summary:
The Republic of Serbia has an advanced and complex system of social assistance and child protection. Although there are more than 20 different social assistance programmes, two of the most important cash benefits are child allowances and material support for low income households (known as MOP). Since 2001, the Government has been reforming these programmes. This note summarises key findings on the opportunities of reform for better targeting these benefits.
