Biography
Dr Asheq Rahman holds a medical degree, MSc in nutrition, MPH and PhD in nutrition and dietetics. During 2003 and 2004, he worked on the baseline survey of the National Nutrition Project in Bangladesh. He also worked on a randomised controlled trial in arsenic mitigation and several large-scale surveys (including Social Sector Performance Surveys) between 2001 and 2005. Later, he joined Concern Worldwide in Bangladesh and, as Technical Manager, led the organisation's nutrition-related projects. His PhD research on iodine deficiency in Australian newborns is considered a ground-breaking research output in nutritional science and four research papers from the study were published in peer-reviewed international journals. His areas of expertise are epidemioligal studies, health and nutrition surveys, and health and nutrition policy.
