Biography
Ludovico Carraro is a senior economist specialised in welfare analysis and the assessment of living standards. He has provided technical assistance and advice in the area of poverty monitoring and analysis in many countries (including Moldova, People’s Republic of China, Slovak Republic, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Albania) and led two OPM teams on DFID and World Bank projects on the Millennium Development Goals.
He is currently working on social assistance reforms in Moldova and Serbia and in the evaluation of poverty reduction programs in Kenya (Conditional Cash Transfers for Orphans and Vulnerable Children) and China (Basic education in Western Areas). Recently he also worked on the analysis of inequality and poverty trends in the Slovak Republic and provided technical assistance to the Moldovan statistical office for the improvement of poverty and inequality estimates derived from the Household Budget Survey. For two years he was based in Pakistan for OPM to support the Federal Bureau of Statistics in the analysis of the Pakistan Integrated Household Survey. Other consultancy experience includes technical assistance and training of the National Statistical Office personnel of the Kyrgyz Republic in the analysis of household surveys for poverty monitoring and the targeting of social benefits. He also worked as a short-term lecturer in economics at the University of Bologna and the University of Venice.
