Biography

Mark Watson is an economist and public financial management consultant. His technical experience covering 40 countries includes sector-wide approaches in the social and infrastructure sectors (with a focus on financial analysis, management and programming issues in Africa, the Caribbean and south Asia), aid instruments and general budget support, economic analysis and evaluation of sector programmes and projects, institutional development and capacity building and public finance management and budget-support training (predominantly for the EC). Recently, Mark has worked with OPM on numerous Foreign and Commonwealth Office assignments, including an economic assessment of Ascension Island and economic reviews of the Falkland Islands, British Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands. He also participated in a strategic review of the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, and supported the migration of funding for the police service in Malawi from project modalities to a sector approach.
