Biography

Mark Watson is an economist and public financial management consultant. His technical experience covering 40 countries includes:

  • sector-wide approaches in the social and infrastructure sectors, with a focus on financial analysis, management and programming issues (Africa, S Asia, Caribbean)
  • aid instruments and general budget support
  • economic analysis and evaluation of sector programmes and projects
  • institutional development and capacity building; 
  • PFM and budget support training (predominantly for the EC).

In recent years Mark worked with OPM on numerous FCO assignments including an economic assessment of Ascension Island and economic reviews of Falkland Islands, British Virgin Islands and Turks & Caicos Islands.  He also participated in a strategic review of the Aga Khan Health Service, Pakistan, and supported the migration of funding for the police service in Malawi from project modalities to sector approach.
