Biography

Mike is a key trainer in Financial disciplines and an experienced academic and management consultant who has worked extensively in the health and social care sector in the UK. He brings specialist skills in the area of manpower planning, developed and contributed to the delivery of learning programmes for leaders in a wide range of health care and related care organizations. He has designed and delivered a multitude of financial management training programmes for both private and public sector organizations, and more specifically, he has designed management and leadership development programmes for general managers, senior nurses, doctors and social/health care professionals in various disciplines. Overall, he has more than 30 years of experience in planning and delivering management training formerly in an academic leadership role and more recently as a director of an organizational development consultancy. His areas of expertise covers: health care financing, financial management systems, accounting and reporting; Interim control methods and auditing; business planning and strategic planning. Recent experience in the region includes: As a consultant assisting in the development health service managers training curriculum for the National Institute of Health, Armenia (2006). As an international expert team member undertaking capacity building at the University of Belgrade developing the financial management and service costing curriculum for a Master’s Degree in Health Management and by designing and delivering financial training modules for health sector managers as part of the modernization reforms of the health sector in Serbia, Serbia (2009-2011): a membership of the panel which provided advice on institutional roles and HR planning, as well as design ad delivery of the modules on financial management, accounting, reporting and internal control systems for the DFID-funded Primary Health Care Reform project in Georgia (2003-2008); Also leading the financial management component for the “ Twinning Arrangements for Health Finance Capacity Building and Strategic Purchasing “ project, Kazakhstan (2010-2013).
