Biography
Orvill Adams is the Director of Orvill Adams & Associates, which specializes in working with policy makers and senior managers to formulate policies and to implement innovative and sustainable solutions to the complex health systems and health workforce challenges they face. He is currently the Project Director of the Balkans Primary Health Care Policy Project working in the Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the Republic of Serbia.
Orvill has more than 25 years of experience in senior positions in the public and private health sector. In the private sector he was the Director of Medical Economics with the Canadian Medical Association for 10 years. He then managed his own firm which focussed on health, education and social services issues. In the public sector he worked for 10 years at the World Health Organization, more than five as Director, initially of the Department of Health Services Provision and after, of the Department of Human Resources for Health.
He has managed and developed health systems and health workforce tools and policies, and has worked in and with countries to implement them. He has interacted with Development Partners, both bilateral and multilateral, at global levels and within countries. He is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Helsinki in the Department of General Practice in Primary Health Care, Quality and Management of Human Resources.
Orvill Adams is widely published in the area of health workforce development, management, policy and planning. He holds post graduate degrees in Economics and International Affairs.
