Summary of Experience: • Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine • Doctor of Medicine, with postgraduate professional and research qualifications in clinical and tropical medicine, and in epidemiology and public health • Interests include: International health policies and health system reforms; Reproductive, sexual and child health; Communicable and chronic disease epidemiology, prevention and control • UK experience with UK DFID, Cabinet Office, Department of Health & National Health Service • International experience with WHO & UNAIDS Geneva, GAVI, World Bank & DFID (UK) • In-depth country experience in Papua New Guinea 1966-68, Tanzania 1969-73, USA 1989, Bangladesh 1995-98, Switzerland 2001-02 • Undertaken numerous consultancies for WHO (headquarters and regions), DFID, British Council, Medical Research Council, European Commission, and various governments and NGOs
