Biography
Rashid Zaman is public health specialist with more than 10 years’ experience in impact evaluation, monitoring and evaluation, disease surveillances, and epidemiological studies. His areas of interest include infectious diseases, maternal and child health, human resource for health and bioethics. Rashid holds an MBBS, a post graduate diploma in health economics and an MPH. He received the prestigious Equity and Merit Scholarship for his MPH Programme at the University of Manchester. He started his research career with one of the largest survey research firm of Bangladesh and worked in number of major national surveys including a series of public expenditure tracking surveys (PETS). In 2006, he joined ICDDR,B and worked in US-CDC’s International Emerging Infections Programme (IEIP) in Bangladesh, where he took the principal role in designing and implementing country’s first national influenza surveillance system. He joined OPM in January 2010 and is working with the health related projects and impact evaluations, mostly in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. His recent projects include evaluation of UK frameworks for malaria and reproductive, maternal and neonatal health, a 4-year M&E consultancy for Millennium Challenge Account in Namibia, and maternal and child health programme evaluations in India and Pakistan. Rashid has authored more than 30 publications, many of them published in reputed international peer reviewed journals.
