Biography
Simon Hunt was appointed Managing Director of OPM in early 2009 following his role as Director of the Social Policy Programme. He has nearly 30 years' experience as a development economist, including 10 years spent at the University of Oxford. He specialises in poverty reduction policies and in service delivery policies for poverty reduction. He is currently directing two major social welfare reform projects, one in Moldova and one in Serbia. He is also leading a large, multi-faceted evaluation of the National Income Support Programme in Pakistan. He recently led an evaluation of the National Primary Health Care Programme in Pakistan using quantitative and qualitative surveys to understand service delivery and impact. He also led a large and complex set of service delivery and public expenditure tracking surveys for the health and education sectors in Bangladesh, as well as a large team for DFID piloting a multi-country Poverty and Social Impact Assessment in six countries.
