Biography
Simon Hunt, is the director of the Social Policy Programme in OPM. He specialises in economic and social policies to reduce poverty. He works on designing pro poor public strategies and policies, their management and welfare impacts. He is currently directing major social welfare reform projects in Serbia and Moldova and is leading a team to support the development of a social protection strategy in Rwanda. He recently lead a large and complex set of service delivery and public expenditure tracking surveys for health and education sectors in Bangladesh, and is coordinating OPM's long term support to the PRSP in Albania. In 2003-04 he led a DFID team in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the Millennium Development Goal indicators. He recently managed a large, multi faceted evaluation of a primary health care programme in Pakistan that used both service delivery surveys and qualitative research methods to understand the performance of Lady Health Workers. In 2002 he coordinated DFID's recent multi-country PSIA (Poverty and Social Impact Assessment) pilot in six countries.
