Project Information

This project aims to provide technical assistance and guidance to support three national universtity research teams to undertake three studies:

  1. an impact assessment of the Basic Education in Western Areas Project;
  2. a school mapping of primary and secondary schools in rural areas of western China;
  3. the status and implementation of student assistance programmes in rural areas of Western China. 

The three studies are intended to support the ‘Basic Education in Western Areas Project’ by contributing to improved access to and completion of affordable and good-quality basic education for poor boys and girls in the Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan provinces, as well as in the Ningxia Hui and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous regions.
