OPM was engaged by SIDA to undertake a review of the financial sector in the West Bank and Gaza, and particularly the role of the financial sector in providing credit to MSMEs. The assessment was designed to answer the question of whether the lack of credit/access to finance is a significant hindrance for private sector development in Palestine. The assessment also tackles the main causes for the problems of SMEs to access external financing in order to grow and develop. Lastly, the assessment addresses the role of donors, especially of Sweden, in enabling access to credit in the foreseeable future.
