Financial Sector Assessment Paper
Project Information
The Financial Assessment Paper for Ukraine was prepared as part of a broader global programme of work mandated by the G7 Financial Stability Forum after its establishment in 1999. The assessments are designed to check the soundness of each country’s banking and other financial services sector and to conduct stress tests to determine how robust these sectors would be in response to significant macroeconomic and other shocks. This work is a response to the numerous financial crises of the late 1990s. The OPM consultant was a member of a larger FSAP team headed by the World Bank and IMF. He took responsibility for integrating work on bank soundness with the identification and analysis of the possible macroeconomic stresses on the Ukrainian financial system. He also took on a major editorial role in relation to the Volume One Report and in relation to the analysis of banks and stress testing that was presented in more detail in Volume Two.
