Preparation of a paper for DFID's Africa Policy Department which presents data on (i) the levels and patterns of growth in DFID’s 16 PSA countries, as well as for eight key regional economic communities (RECs); and (ii) some of the factors that are considered as being important in determining a country’s growth performance. The paper also analyses recent growth patterns, provides a literature review on Africa’s recent growth performance, and presents scenario forecasts for economic growth over the next decade.
