The provision of long-term technical support to the DG Development of the European Commission, to enhance the anti-poverty effectiveness of the DG Development's policies and programmes in rural development, agricultural and food security. The programme was comprised of four components: (i) support to policy development for rural poverty reduction; (ii) the promotion of more effective consultation mechanisms between the EC and Member States; (iii) the development of resource materials for EC staff on international good practice in rural poverty reduction strategies and food security; (iv) technical support to selected EC Delegations - Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania,
