Policy and institutional reform

Director, Economic Policy

Stephen Jones »

OPM has supported agricultural policy reform in numerous countries. Our work varies from short-term assignments addressing specific policy issues, to long-term institutional support programmes, often with multiple components, that are designed to strengthen the capacities of ministries of agriculture. Policy and institutional reform are closely linked, and we are able to provide in-house expertise covering both aspects of this work.

OPM has been closely involved in shaping the implementation of livelihoods approaches to rural development policy problems, and the mainstreaming of rural development and environment issues within poverty reduction strategies. OPM has also provided support to the development of agriculture sector programmes in numerous countries, most recently in Nepal, Tanzania, and Uganda.
