Summary reviews of empirical analysis and data on poverty and growth in six principal Asian countries (Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam). Key common and distinguishing features of growth and poverty reduction processes between and within countries were identified. Using empirical information on the elasticity of the proportion in poverty to economic growth, a series of growth and poverty reduction scenarios based on differing growth projections were prepared.
