Commodity and sector-specific analysis
OPM has undertaken studies that have examined the impact of trade reforms in a number of commodities and sectors of interest to developing countries. These include reform of developed country market access policies and the impact of reform of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy, particularly on sugar, rice, bananas, fruit and vegetables and dairy products.
Our analysis has generated recommendations on the design of both bilateral and multilateral interventions to enable developing countries to make best use of the opportunities presented by reforms and to adjust where they present difficulties, particularly because of preference erosion.
