Political economy, institutions and processes for trade policy
An understanding of the political economy of the policy-making process is essential to the design of support to the national trade policy making process. In many countries, there is often broad consensus on the key trade policy reforms required to bring pro-poor growth. The mechanisms needed for successful implementation of these reforms are less well understood.
OPM has advised governments on how to strengthen their institutional processes for trade policy-making. And we have assisted donors to design their support for the policy-making process through analysis of the opportunities and constraints to reform.
