Poverty and Social Protection
This policy area concentrates on two main areas:
The ultimate objective of development is poverty reduction and accurate poverty monitoring and analysis is critical both for the design and the monitoring of development strategies and projects.
Social protection can be defined more or less broadly and government and donors have different understanding of what is included in social protection: from social safety nets and food aid to labour market policies, social assistance and social insurance.There is a renewed interest in social protection that is partly associated to its widening concept.
