Project Information

This work aimed at quantifying the various aspects of social exclusion in Pakistan using the available quantitative data. The work assessed the gaps in human development between socially excluded groups and the rest of the population. It produced key estimates of Millennium Development Goals indicators by population groups of interest and it also implemented a more in depth econometric analysis which disentangled the actual statistical effect of 'social exclusion'. The output was a document that shows the importance of social exclusion and highlights areas where more data are needed. Moreover, it also assessed to what extent growth and fight against poverty are hindered by processes of social exclusion. Such information aims to be used by the Government and donors to influence policy-making.
