Project Information

The project supported the reform of The Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBOS).  Following the passing of a new Statistics Act in 2005, the former Department of Statistics was to be transformed into a new autonomous bureau.  An OPM team provided recommendations on the regulations and operating principles for the Statistics Council and the advisory Statistics Council.  In addition detailed recommendations were made on the organisation of the new office including: delegation orders and internal procedures;  the structure and size of the new Bureau; draft job descriptions and competences; relocation plans; recruitment procedures; training needs; performance management and the operation of the new Bureau.  The team also advised on a remuneration package for the new staff and proposed a draft budget for the fist year of operation.
