Project Information

The Road Map identifies the steps necessary for reform of the official statistical system of Liberia which had largely collapsed after 14 years of war. The Road Map makes recommendations on the priorities for re-establishing statistical series, for the reform of the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-information Services (LISGIS), and the sequencing of statistical development to support the data needs of the forthcoming Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy.  The roadmap was developed in consultation with the major stakeholders in the country, and the proposals adopted at a national workshop.  The assignments included recommendations for the revision of the GDDS metadata.  The work formed the basis of a funding application to support further strategic development of national statistics in the country.  The assignment was funded by the World Bank Socio-Demographic Statistics Project for Anglophone Africa.
