Project Information

OPM is assisting the Government of Rwanda to reform its statistical system and to implement the Strategic Plan for the Development of National Statistics. The current Department of Statistics is undergoing transformation to become an autonomous Institute of Statistics. OPM is supporting this transformation by providing a Resident Project Coordinator and technical inputs in economic, agricultural and social statistics. In addition the project will provide management support, training, systems development and mentoring during the development period.

The three year project which started in 2003 will revise the Consumer Price Index and National Accounts; provide support in the development of rural sector surveys and in the conduct of the 2005/6 Housing and Living Conditions Survey. In addition to supplying technical support to improve data quality and availability, the project will improve coordination of national statistics, its dissemination and accessibility to stakeholders.
