The project as designed in partnership with government to relieve emergency conditions in slums, and the evaluation is expected to inform the development of an urban slum social protection system. The evaluation used focus groups, interviews and observation to test impact on food security, vulnerability, community and social relations and negative coping strategies (e.g. prostitution), and to assess operations (targeting, payment, communications and efficiency).

OPM developed a theoretical framework and designed qualitative fieldwork tools, managed fieldwork, conducted interviews in Kenya and are analysing data to write up a report and will present to Concern and the Ministry of Gender.  The report will feed into future social protection programming of urban areas of Kenya
