Summary:
OPM is implementing a project to support the development of an integrated macroeconomic model for the Government of Uganda. The model comprises three integrated components: (i) a macroeconometric model; (ii) a dynamic Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model; and a micro-simulation model. The model will be located in the Macroeconomic Policy Department of the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) and will be used to forecast the resource ceiling for the budget and to analyse the impact of a wide range of policy issues on the economy, government finances, household income and poverty. MFPED staff are fully involved in the process and the model development is supported by an extensive process of capacity building to ensure the sustainability of the model beyond the end of the project.
