Summary:
ESSPIN is an education sector and governance intervention programme that operates in five states and at the federal level. It aims to encourage the more efficient and effective use of Nigeria’s own resources to improve basic education service delivery and to promote the sharing of effective models and best practice. The programme aims to develop:

- a stronger governance framework to enable basic education reform at federal level;
- stronger governance and management of basic education at state and local government level;
- more developed and sustained capacity of primary, junior and secondary schools to provide an improved learning environment; and
- stronger mechanisms for accountability.

OPM, as part of a consortium, are providing support on public finance, monitoring and evaluation and education management information systems.
