Summary:
STEP is a six-year programme (2008-2014), which aims to strengthen the professional development of teachers, teacher educators and education managers in Sindh, Balochistan and the Gilgit-Baltistan. Three outcomes are envisaged:
1. Improved performance of teacher education institutions;
2. Improved performance of teachers and education managers in delivering and supporting quality teaching and learning; and
3. Improved policies, practices and networking for the professional development of teachers, teacher educators and education managers
The project supports the design and implementation of a comprehensive, robust, cost-effective, and gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system for STEP. It works closely with the STEP Monitoring, Evaluation, Documentation and Research (MEDR) Team based at the Aga Khan University Institute of Educational Development. The objectives of the project are to:
• help the STEP MEDR Team develop a monitoring system that collects and analyses data based on indicators in the logframe / Performance Measurement Framework; feeds into project reporting, planning and design; and contributes to the generation of lessons learned;
• A further aim is to build the capacity of the STEP MEDR Team over time to maintain the M&E system
