Project Information

PARIS21 is a partnership to develop a culture of transparent evidence-based policy making and implementation by promoting better statistics and statistical analysis in developing countries, through advocacy and the promotion of a strategically planned approach to developing statistical systems. OPM undertook an evaluation of its achievements during the first three years of activity. The evaluation involved assessing the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the programme, plus an assessment of the governance arrangements, and future directions the programme could take. As well as extensive interviews with Secretariat staff, financial supporters and steering committee members, country visits were carried out in Latin America, Southern and Eastern Africa and West Africa. The evaluation concluded that PARIS21 had shown sufficient promise to recommend its extension for an additional three years, and this recommendation was accepted by the Steering Committee, see the PARIS21 website
