Agriculture and food security

We began as the Food Studies Group at the University of Oxford several decades ago, and we still firmly believe that food security is both a human right and a powerful driver for economic and social development.

Food security is vital for addressing the problem of malnutrition, and this is linked to a nation’s agricultural profile. For many low- and middle-income countries, agriculture is not only a source of food, but also a major contributor to income and employment.

We work with governments to ensure that public expenditure on agriculture is effective, sustainable, and environmentally responsible. We combine a strong emphasis on evidence with a multi-sectoral approach to implement and scale up food programmes inclusively and cost-effectively.
