Divya Sharma is an urban policy expert who provides leadership to our Urban Policy and Planning team. She has extensive experience in formulating city strategies and policies for smart cities, climate and disaster resilience and pro-poor development. Over 15 years in the urban development sector, she has worked very closely with decision makers and practitioners in government, the international research community, academia, and multilateral and bilateral organisations. She has worked with some of India’s city governments on the prestigious Smart Cities scheme and is a distinguished member of the Consultation Committee of the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN).
Divya’s special expertise is in governance and policy, particularly urban reforms, institutional strengthening and service delivery in cities. She has worked extensively with Indian state and city governments to mainstream climate resilience in urban development frameworks, and to develop frameworks for resilient urban infrastructure.
Divya holds a Master's degree in Urban Development Planning and a PhD in Urban Climate Adaptation.
