Martin Rimmer is a Principal Economist with OPM's Public Sector Finance Management Programme and leads the portfolio on regional development and local governance. Martin has more than 30 years' experience in developing countries, where he has worked in a wide range of areas. He has a wealth of recent experience in Africa, South Asia the former Soviet Union working as a director of large and complex projects.
Martin is currently project director of Ligada: DFID Mozambique’s Programme for Female Economic Empowerment. He was recently the project director of the DFID-funded Palestine Governance Facility and the Moldova Regional Development Project. In addition to local and regional development, Martin's main areas of interest include social policy, gender and development, monitoring and evaluation and poverty assessment. Outside OPM, Martin is a Research Associate of the Department of International Development at the University of Oxford.
