Using Big Data and Small Area Estimation to transform poverty mapping
Discover how Big Data and Small Area Estimation can transform poverty mapping, enabling more tailored policies to end extreme poverty.
Nick Lindsay is an Assistant Consultant in the Data Innovation team, specialising in quantitative methods and machine learning. He has technical experience using advanced statistical techniques to leverage national datasets and employing mixed-methods approaches. Most notably, using a combination of remotely sensed data and national surveys, he harnessed new statistical methods leveraging ‘Big Data’ and machine learning to generate spatially disaggregated, granular estimates of poverty. He is now developing similar methods to generate and illustrate high-resolution estimates of ECD services.
