Value for Money (VFM) and sustainability are key issues in WASH programming. The project has two objectives: to identify how VFM and sustainability can be improved in DFID-funded WASH programmes, and to assess the sustainability of rural WASH services in Africa and South Asia. The first objective is being addressed using operational research studies in six countries, and the second using nationally-representative household surveys in four of those countries. Partners are the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), the University of Leeds, Trémolet Consulting and Oxfam.
